PM Team FULL Show 5/9/24

Hour 4: Poni is surprised by the number of Steelers fans that seem to want Cam Heyward to take a pay cut. He’s also surprised because it’s usually a topic that we would bring up, but it seems like there are people who want the fan-favorite to take a cut.  Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray commented on the Najee Harris 5th year option and the report that Zeise put out there about Harris asking the Steelers to do it. Ray thinks the Steelers really like the RB rotation with Harris and Jaylen Warren and there’s no real thought of Harris getting dealt. The guys asked Ray about what is going on at receiver and if they will all be on the 53-man roster by Week 1. Ray thinks late August is more of a timeline of when we get a better answer at receiver as a group. Ray thinks Deebo Samuel would be a cheaper option than Brandon Aiyuk at this point. Ray doesn’t think it’s fair to put a ton on the plate of Roman Wilson entering his rookie year.  Total Request Thursday.

Steve had some insight on Paul Skenes since he nearly made it up the baseball ladder all the way to the majors. The guys asked Steve about the Steelers plan at wide receiver after signing Scotty Miller. Steve thinks the top half of the room has a lot of question marks besides George Pickens. Should the Steelers regret the Diontae Johnson trade? Steve does like what Roman Wilson brings to the table and if he can be the main man opposite of Pickens. Are the names getting too outlandish?  Poni gave the first clue to a Paul Skenes giveaway.  Penguins insider Rob Rossi from The Athletic joined the show. Rob is confident that Mike Sullivan will be the Penguins head coach next year no matter who becomes available on the coaching carousel. Rob commented on how he feels about the loyalty factor that is present among Sullivan and the core players. The guys asked Rob about the challenges of getting younger.

Hour 4: BREAKING NEWS: Paul Skenes has been called up and will make his MLB debut on Saturday.  93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff reacted to Paul Skenes getting called up and set to make his debut on Saturday against the Cubs. Jeff thinks the Pirates could go to a 6-man rotation for the time being to save some arms. The guys asked if this will give a jolt to the clubhouse.  GIVEAWAY.

Hour 2: Poni was excited last night because in a video of Lamar Jackson reading tweets hating on him, he read Poni’s first. Poni doesn’t think the Ravens are a true force in the AFC North going into this season. We also had initial reaction to the Pirates loss to the Angels.  Fans sound off following the Pirates loss to the Angels.  Poni is trying to prepare for his near-mile run that he’s going to take in a few minutes. We also looked at some staggeringly bad Pirates stats.
